Snacks For The Road

On The Go - Nonperishable Snacks

I always have a bunch of snacks packed in the diaper bag or a back pack that I take with me places. You never know when these little guys will be hungry... and a little snack can go a long way.

Trail Mix
Pack some small individual baggies with a trail mix of nuts, dried fruit and m&m's

Ready To Drink Juice (in boxes/bags)
Even packing some bottled water is a good idea - you just never know when you might have an emergency

Pretzels
All different sorts of shapes and sizes for little hands... kids love to eat these fun treats.

Dry Cereal with Chopped Raisins
Cheerios, Kix, or whatever your favorite dry cereal is - pack in small baggies

On The Go - Perishable Snacks

Cheese Sticks
Cut up a large block to make your own - or buy them individually wrapped. String Cheese, chedder or Jack are favorites.

Cut-Up Fruit/Veggies
Go with the non-juicy fruits for less mess... apples, pears, carrots

Whole Fruits
Bananas are easy to pack - and are a bit self contained.

Little Tips
Never give young toddlers hard fruit or veggies such as apples or carrots. Pieces can break off and create a choking hazard. Grate or cook (to soften) the fruit or vegetable as an alternative.

Little Tips
Preschoolers love eating off a stick. Buy some popcycle sticks at the craft store and get creative... add fruit, meatballs or veggies and serve for a fun meal or snack.
